It’s been awhile since I’ve crossed off something from the blog prompt challenges I’ve been working through! This is another one that made an appearance on both the Blogtember and 365 Blog Topic Ideas lists, although it different capacities. I’m just multiplying the 365 Blog Topic prompt by five. That’s the kind of math I can do!
- Today’s Prompt: Shout out five of your favourite bloggers. Who are your regular reads?
- #242: Who is a blogger you admire?
This is a post I have been putting off because I always find it hard to pick favourites. As for blogs, I read quite a few and love searching for new bloggers and blogs through social media. I get so excited when I visit the profile of someone who posted a pretty picture on Instagram and find out they have a blog!
That being said, I wasn’t able to decide on five of those blogs/ bloggers as I don’t have a real connection with any of them. Instead, I wanted to give shot-outs to five bloggers at varying stages in their blogging journeys who I know in “real life”. I admire each of them for different reasons and I love that they all have very unique blogs from one another. They are listed in alphabetical order by first name and I hope you take the time to check out their individual stories!
Catherine R from findingmymiracle.com
I first met Catherine in high school and she was the valedictorian of our grad class. I honestly don’t think we ever really talked during those five years but since she started her blog I have enjoyed keeping up with her on social media and we often have little mini conversations on each other’s Instagram posts! In 2010, less than a year after we graduated, Catherine was diagnosed with gastroparesis which completely changed her life. “Finding My Miracle” is where Catherine reflects on life with a chronic illness through humour, optimism, and insanely well-written posts. Whether the posts are primarily informative or personal, each one is so inspirational. Plus she crochets REALLY cute baby clothes (and other things of course)… as if you need any more reasons to check out her blog.
Erica B from mymoonandmore.blogspot.ca
If you’ve been reading my blog or following me on any social media, chances are you’ll know Erica. Whenever I un-introvert myself and do something, chances are it’s her I’m with. I talked her into taking a Linguistics class with me this semester and (like every post-secondary class we’ve taken together… weirdly enough) it’s kicking our butts. Sorry about that, man. Another thing I talked her into was starting a blog. It’s a very friendly peer pressure, I promise. Anyway, she hasn’t posted much yet but her nature-related-lifestyle-blog-in-the-making is gonna be great. Definitely check out “My Moon and More” to see what she has so far and to help me cheer her on with this blogging journey!
Julia L from worldtravelinghippie.com
What I remember from the ‘Intro to Archaeology’ class I took:
- I was very disappointed to discover that Archaeology and Palaeontology are different. AKA no dinosaurs.
- The class was taught by a prof that looked like Dr. Hodgins from Bones.
- Stratigraphy. So much Stratigraphy.
- I sat beside Julia.
Julia is one of the nicest people I’ve met in my post-secondary experience. Even though we only took the one class together, I am thankful to have met her and have been keeping up with her adventures over social media. She recently started travelling quite extensively and going on some incredible trips to places all over the world! “World Traveling Hippie” is Julia’s blog where she reflects on her travels and shares her spirituality in such a calm, ethereal manner. Julia is such a happy, positive spirit and her love of life is contagious. I can’t wait to see where her blog (and her future adventures) take her in the future!
Kate H from fasinfoodieblog.wordpress.com
Kate and I met in creative writing, and then both took the same English class the next semester. We were in a group project together that involved rewriting the medieval Creation play as Star Wars and preforming it in front of our class. Random, right? To this day I still associate Lady Gaga and David’s Tea with her and our conversations. Now, Kate is pursuing culinary school and whenever she posts food pictures on Instagram my mouth waters. Check out “F as in Foodie” for everything food related: from recipes to opinion posts, all hilariously written in a relatable way that makes you want to read (and eat) more.
Rhea G from shutterflyphotography.org
Out of everyone on this list, I’ve known Rhea the longest. We’ve been friends for seventeen years and she is one of my very favourite people. Rhea’s biggest passion is photography and “Shutterfly Photography” is her blog/ business website where you can see her portfolio (I even make an appearance!) and learn more about her. She is so talented and knowledgeable when it comes to photography, I am just so proud of everything she does! Check out her site to see the different kinds of photography she does and check out all her linked social media as well.
Thank you so much for reading this post! I hope you enjoyed learning about some of the bloggers in my life. Who are your favourite reads? Does anyone in your life have a blog? I hope to hear from you!
