Tumblr Mood Board

Today’s Prompt: Create a collage or inspiration/ mood board for this season in your life.

Ah yes. The Blogtember prompt that derailed me.

I love looking at mood boards. I think they’re stunning and aesthetic and everything wonderful about Pinterest and Tumblr.  I tried making one for an earlier post but I don’t like how it turned out. It’s just something I have yet to master. So when this prompt was on the list, I didn’t want to give it a second go. I procrastinated and before I knew it, I was way off track for Blogtember.

On the other hand, collages are my thing. Ever since elementary school I have loved putting together random things and displaying them: on binders, on my walls, scrapbooks and so on. It helps when you’re a hoarder… but that’s an issue for another post. Collages are time consuming, and the time I had in elementary and high school to do those just isn’t there anymore. Or if it is, I can’t find it. I’m working on that.

So, my latest blog related endeavour (365 Blog Topic Ideas) has a couple mood board/ collage prompts. I’m thinking about using Polyvore for most of them, but recently I was inspired. By my OCD.

This comes through in weird ways because I’m not a horribly neat person. I am organized in a sense where I’m a bit neurotic when it comes to everything having a place… but usually things are sprawled out on my bed and floor instead. When it comes to social media, however, I have issues. If you check out my Instagram you’ll notice that all the posts somewhat match the previous one in terms of colour. I like it to have a sort of gradient effect and I guess that “theme” kind of goes with my brand. That neurosis started on Tumblr a couple years ago. Instead of just posting whenever I am scrolling through my dashboard, I add everything to my queue. I starting organizing my queue so that when I would search for specific things or creep a themed blog (it happens) twenty-four Taylor Swift posts wouldn’t go on my blog in succession and the same with Zodiac related images or posts relating to whatever movie I just watched and searched the Tumblr tags for. This desire to space things out eventually morphed into me sorting my queue based on the posts that looked alike, primarily in terms of colour.

It’s aggressive, I know.

It isn’t too obvious upon simply scrolling through my Tumblr account but once when I was looking through my mass post editor for a certain post, I noticed how cool the archived posts looked.

Kind of like a mood board.

This brings us to my 365 Blog Topic Ideas prompt for this post:

#73: Create a colour specific collage of items you love.

My Tumblr may have started as something else, but at this point it essentially just a gallery of things that I love. For “colour specific”  we’re going to have to go with rainbow. Because I’m not gonna lie, my favourite colour was definitely “rainbow” for a couple years in the 90’s.

Fair warning: this is going to be a VERY photo heavy post. I apologize. The way the archive works often cuts off pictures and so of course this is more a glimpse for the sake of the “mood board” medium, and if you would like to see the complete posts in a linear fashion they are on my Tumblr: http://ehdreeahnah.tumblr.com. I kind of went overboard on this post and had originally planned on going back until when I started posting like this, but apparently the obsession has gone on longer than I thought and we we’re headed into 2012 when I stopped myself. I ended up deleting most of those, so instead of the original 324 pictures I settled with just over 50. I hope you enjoy my interpretation on a mood board of things I love for this season of my life!

Do you have any kind of “theme” for your social media accounts? I’d love to hear from you!

DISCLAIMER: The prompt for this post was originally from BraveLoveBlog's Blog-Tember Challenge. I did not complete Blogtember during the month of September but adored the prompts so I am going to continue using the prompts out of order. ALL credit for the idea behind Blogtember and the creation of these prompts goes to Bailey Jean and her blog, BraveLoveBlog. You can find her original list of Blogtember 2015 prompts HERE.
